Agricultural Produce Market Committee , Karanja
The Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), Karanja (Lad), is the first market committee established in India. In 1886, under the Hyderabad Residency Act, the first cotton market in India was started in Karanja (Lad), and from that day onwards, the Karanja Agricultural Produce Market Committee came into existence. The Maharashtra government, through the Directorate of Marketing, Maharashtra State, Pune, has announced the annual ranking of Agricultural Produce Market Committees in the state under the SMART project for the year 2023-24. In this ranking, the Karanja Agricultural Produce Market Committee secured the second position in the state and the first position in the Amravati division. This is a matter of pride for our district and for all of us. However, it takes many years for anything to become renowned or for a sapling to grow into a banyan tree, and this transformation requires the dedication of many individuals.
